Swarm Intelligence Based Multi-phase OPF For Peak Power Loss Reduction In A Smart Grid

Recently there has been increasing interest in improving smart grids efficiency using computational intelligence. A key challenge in future smart grid is designing Optimal Power Flow tool to solve important planning problems including optimal DG capacities. Although, a number of OPF tools exists for balanced networks there is a lack of research for unbalanced multi-phase distribution networks. In this paper, a new OPF technique has been proposed for the DG capacity planning of a smart grid. During the formulation of the proposed algorithm, multi-phase power distribution system is considered which has unbalanced loadings, voltage control and reactive power compensation devices. The proposed algorithm is built upon a co-simulation framework that optimizes the objective by adapting a constriction factor Particle Swarm optimization. The proposed multi-phase OPF technique is validated using IEEE 8500-node benchmark distribution system.Comment: IEEE PES GM 2014, Washington DC, US

Macroeconomic management and the division of powers in Brazil : perspectives for the nineties

The federal authority for macroeconomic management in Brazil has experienced a profound change as a result of the institutional changes that culminated with the promulgation of a new Federal Constitution in October of 1988. This paper examines the implications of the new fiscal arrangements for the exercise of macroeconomic policies by the federal government. It examines how recent changes in the division of powers among federal, state, and local governments in Brazil have affected the conditions for macroeconomic management in that country. This examination gains an added significance given that the erratic character of macroeconomic performance in Brazil has often been blamed on macroeconomic mismanagement. It focuses on how federal control of the policy variables has been affected by the latest development in Brazilian institutions.National Governance,Banks&Banking Reform,Economic Stabilization,Public Sector Economics&Finance,Municipal Financial Management

Fire Safety Analysis of a Railway Compartment using Computational Fluid Dynamics

Trains are considered to be the safest on-land transportation means for both passengers and cargo. Train accidents have been mainly disastrous, especially in case of fire, where the consequences are extensive loss of life and goods. The fire would generate smoke and heat which would spread quickly inside the railway compartments. Both heat and smoke are the primary reasons of casualties in a train. This study has been carried out to perform numerical analysis of fire characteristics in a railway compartment using commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics code ANSYS. Non-premixed combustion model has been used to simulate a fire scenario within a railway compartment, while Shear Stress Transport k-ω turbulence model has been used to accurately predict the hot air turbulence parameters within the compartment. The walls of the compartment have been modelled as no-slip stationary adiabatic walls, as is observed in real life conditions. Carbon dioxide concentration (CO2), temperature distribution and air flow velocity within the railway compartment has been monitored. It has been observed that the smoke above the fire source flows to both sides of the compartment. The highest temperature zone is located downstream the fire source, and gradually decreases with the increase in the distance from the fire source. It can be seen that CFD can be used as an effective tool in order to analyse the evolution of fire in railway compartments with reasonable accuracy. The paper also briefly discusses the topical reliability issues

Ideologi Keluarga Tradisional “IE “ dan Kazoku Kokka pada Masyarakat Jepang Sebelum dan Sesudah Perang Dunia II

In studying Japan's cultural institution, understanding IE, which was the traditional family system used by the Bushi in the Tokugawa era, is indispensable. The IE system is believed to influence the entire aspect of Japanese life, be it the way of thinking, politics, social, economy, marriage, religion, and even the view of “Family State” in the era of Meiji Restoration implemented the structure of IE system. Hence, the IE system is considered to be one of the pillars of Japan's success. This short essay will discuss the IE ideology in the concept of experts on Japanese culture, the principles of Japanese's social relationships, the IE ideology in the structure of “Family State”, and Japan's modern family system

Characterisation of arsenic contamination in groundwater by statistical methods

Statistical investigation on groundwater arsenic concentration data of southwest Bangladesh was performed. Two data sets of 1998-99 and 2002-03 were selected for this analysis. Summary statistics of the data shows that the mean concentration exceeds the Bangladesh limit (0.05mg/l) in all areas. Normality of arsenic concentration data was checked by frequency histogram, skewness coefficient and chi-square goodness-of-fit test and found that the arsenic contamination is not normally distributed. The data were checked for spatial distribution by plotting contour maps and it shows substantial spatial variation. Temporal variability was tested by students t-test and found that the area closer to the confluence of Ganges-Meghna-Jamuna river showing significant temporal variation. Vertical variability of arsenic contamination shows that more than 80-90% of the shallow aquifer (<150m) are contaminated with arsenic (>0.05mg/l). Though deep aquifer (>150m) is still considered as arsenic free but 1-3% of deep tubewells water was also found contaminated with arsenic

Abstract Forehand stroke is a matter that feels difficult for student. Many students that unable to perform those movement wehther on game nor when asked by teacher to practice it. One o fthe learning model is learning modification by tonnis game. Tonnis game played with similar way to tennis and suitable to become basic game before play field tennis. The aim of this reserarch was to detect : 1) the effect of field tennis learning modification by tonnis game to the forehand stroke learning result on student’s field tennis extracurricular participant of SMAN 3 Mojokerto. 2) The rate of tonnis modification to the forehand stroke learning result on student’s field tennis extracurricular participant of SMAN 3 Mojokerto. The conclusion of research result are : 1) there is significant effect from field tennis learning modification by tonnis game to the forehand stroke learning result on student’s field tennis extracurricular participant of SMAN 3 Mojokerto. It proved based on t test result namely tcount score 8.995 > ttable 2.045. 2) Learning modification by tonnis game give improvement to the forehand stroke learning result on student’s field tennis extracurricular participant of SMAN 3 Mojokerto as big as 22.65%.
